How Revive Physio Evolved: My Journey from Physiotherapist to Women's Wellbeing Specialist

If you've visited Revive Physio or come across my website or on social media , you may have noticed that we offer more than just physiotherapy.

Alongside physiotherapy assessments and treatment, I also provide Menopause support, Reiki Healing, hyaluronic acid joint injections, Acupuncture and Sports massage.

People often ask me:

"How did you go from being a physiotherapist to offering all of these different services?"

The answer is simple.

My own experiences changed the way I practice.

The Beginning of My Physiotherapy Journey

I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist over 20 years ago and have spent my career helping people recover from pain, injury and mobility problems.

Throughout those years, I worked with thousands of patients experiencing everything from back pain and sports injuries to arthritis, post-operative rehabilitation and complex musculoskeletal conditions.

What I loved most about physiotherapy was helping people regain confidence in their bodies and get back to doing the things they enjoyed.

But over time, I began to notice something.

Many of the women I was treating were struggling with more than just physical pain.

Looking Beyond the Pain

Women would come to see me with symptoms such as:

  • Persistent joint pain

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Hip pain

  • Neck pain and headaches

  • Fatigue

  • Poor sleep

  • Anxiety

  • Stress

  • Reduced confidence

  • Feeling overwhelmed

As Physiotherapists, we are trained to look for the physical causes of pain.

But I began to realise that for many women, there was often a much bigger picture.

Then I started experiencing many of these challenges myself.

My Own Experience with Anxiety, Stress and Perimenopause

Like many women, I experienced periods of anxiety, stress and overwhelm.

As life became busier, balancing work, family and responsibilities became increasingly challenging.

Then came perimenopause.

The symptoms seemed to arrive gradually and then all at once.

Brain fog.

Joint pain.

Weight gain.

Poor sleep.

Reduced energy.

Loss of confidence.

Mood changes.

A feeling that I wasn't quite myself anymore.

As a healthcare professional, I found myself searching for answers.

Initially, that journey was entirely personal.

I wanted to understand what was happening to my body and why so many women seemed to be experiencing similar struggles.

Studying Menopause Changed Everything

The more I learned about perimenopause and menopause, the more things started to make sense.

I began to understand how hormonal changes can influence:

  • Joint pain

  • Muscle recovery

  • Tendon health

  • Sleep

  • Mood

  • Energy levels

  • Weight management

  • Confidence and wellbeing

Most importantly, I realised how many women felt unheard and unsupported.

This inspired me to undertake further training in menopause support so I could better help the women sitting in front of me every day.

It completely changed my clinical practice.

Discovering Reiki Healing

Around the same time, I became increasingly interested in the relationship between stress, the nervous system and physical symptoms.

Many women I was treating were exhausted.

They were constantly caring for others whilst neglecting themselves.

Stress was affecting their sleep, recovery, energy levels and overall wellbeing.

This led me to explore Reiki Healing.

Initially, it was something I wanted to understand for myself.

What I discovered was that healing isn't always just about muscles, joints and exercises.

Sometimes people need space to slow down, reconnect and support their emotional wellbeing.

Becoming a Reiki Master added another dimension to my work and reinforced something I already believed:

To truly help someone, we often need to look at the whole person, not just the symptoms.

Becoming an Injection Therapist

As my experience grew, so did my desire to offer more treatment options for people living with joint pain and arthritis.

Many patients wanted alternatives to simply taking painkillers or waiting for surgery.

This led me to undertake further training as an injection therapist.

Today I provide hyaluronic acid joint injections for suitable patients experiencing conditions such as:

  • Knee arthritis

  • Shoulder pain

  • Base of thumb arthritis

  • Tendon-related conditions

Combined with physiotherapy, these treatments can help improve pain, mobility and quality of life.
